Nijmegen Cargo bike festival 2016
April 28, 2016

Last weekend we set the sails and went to the International Cargo bike Festival in Nijmegen (Holland). It was an amazing event on a great location and with so many interesting people and exciting cargo bikes.

As Michael Cramer (chairman of the Committee on Transport and Tourism in European union) pointed out, transport is the only sector which in recent years has risen its pollution levels. Already 40% of all pollution in the cities comes from vehicles on the road.

And the bicycle, once again, is set to take the main stage. Whatever the form (city, mountain, cargo…), the electric motor has given the bike a strong push in usability, comfort and convenience.

The cargo bikes, in their variety and form, are becoming a stronger and important market segment. A whopping 50% of all the motorized cargo transports could be mastered with cargo bicycles!

The shift is already noticeable: last mile delivery services, express delivery,… employing fleets of cargo bikes. Moreover the cargo bike is getting more relevance also in bike renting and sharing.

Obviously, the cargo bike needs a bit more than the normal bike as the cargo box has to be protected and shared as well. We have therefore developed a special layout of the Lock&Charge system that enables the user also to lock/unlock the cargo box.

We will publish the video of the system soon. Stay tuned.
